after reading steves blog i have to agree with what he said. th origional b rock started off as a family. the rock crowd itself looking after its own. welcomming outsiders like me with no questions asked. i am ashamed to say i was one of the dj's steve mentioned. i played to fill the floor eventually. fighting for the almighty pound rather than what i set out to do. i wanted a rock night for us all to enjoy. something for everyone. then started to get annoyed by all the little "gangs" putting me down for what i was playing at that precise time. if i played hardcore the punk crowd would have a go , if i played punk the nu metalers would complain, if i played nu metal the clasics fans would start. i felt like i couldnt win. managers didnt help. they didnt like rock at all and just watched for full floors and full tills.
no one knew how much steve and i put into those old nights. steve decided that to sleep was to let the scene down and spent whatever time he had online. he put so much of himself and his money into it it hurt when everyone left when a new place put on a night. but we moved on.
now we are trying again. steve with this new site, me with a new oxygen rock night. i felt it was time to make it back to what it should have been. i know its not perfect....im still finding out what everyone wants, but im doing it for free aand am trying to play a bit of everything for everyone. im hoping that people here will use this place to tell me what im doing wrong so i can fix it.give me your suggestions and i will try to get them. give me your abuse and i will try to learn from it.
in the end we are a comunity. we have always looked out for one another. we bicker and fight like any other familly but i have also seen when one of us is in trouble we rally round to help. i myself would have lost my home if it hadnt been for steves help (i havnt forgotten btw). lets not let it die.
